Nigerian lad bags double major, graduates as best overall student
Nigeria is in the news again for the right reason as Johnpaul Nwaezeigwe graduated as the best overall student at St. Mary’s University, Halifax in Canada.
He bagged two majors (Political Science and Economics) with a First Class. He was also given the honour of addressing his fellow graduates at their convocation.

FUTO Protest: Students protest hike in School fees, destroy school facilites(See Photos)
Students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri
(FUTO), today, embarked on a massive protest against hike in school fees and the failure of
the university authorities to provide free Wi-Fi services, which was one of the reasons listed as a reason for the hike of the school fees.
The
Protest was said to have started after the school authorities gave the
students an ultimatum to pay up or pay an additional fine of N10,000.Reports say the protest escalated leading to destruction of school facilities despite heavy police presence in the school.

Senate extends JAMB result validity period to 3 years.
While presenting the report titled "Report on a bill for an Act to amend the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Act and for other matters connected thereof, 2016, (SB.245)" senator Jibrin Baran, Chairman Plenary committee explained the purpose of the bill was to amend and increase JAMB validity period from one Academic year to three academic years.
This means that your JAMB result can be used to gain admission into any Nigerian University, Polytechnic and College of Education within three years from when it was gotten.
He said Section 6 (1) of the new Act states: ” Any examination conducted by the Board pursuant to the powers conferred by this Act shall be valid for a period of three academic years from the date of the examination.
“A candidate meeting the requirements for admission and being duly qualified shall remain so qualified for the period prescribed in subsection (1) of this section.
“A candidate awaiting admission shall be given preference in the succeeding year over fresh applicants who shall only become eligible when the backlog had been cleared.”
The Senate has passed for Third Reading and approved the extension of the validity period.
