The people of Afikpo in Ebonyi Nigeria will not forget the free 5-day medical mission that was just concluded at The Mater Misericordiae Hospital Afikpo, Afikpo North Local Government Area, in a hurry.
Professionals for Humanity team that was founded in 1998,by Gbemuotor Kama, a Nigerian and with Cliff Jarrell an American missionary in West Africa. A few years later they were joined by Markus von- Have, a German. The organization is now a global non-profit, medical and social humanitarian organization under the 501 status in the United States that is also incorporated in Germany ,Ghana, Ireland, Nepal, Nigeria and South Africa.
Most of the surgeries were performed by Brian Camazine, a professor of surgery including Stuart Quartemont and Gbaranen Gbanaador both are also professors in Texas the United States.
Akwu-ude Ekeoma Edith, The CEO of 243 Diet, who also doubles as one of the newly appointed assistants to The Governor of Ebonyi State on Food Security and Nutrition, has attracted this International NGO to The State and many surgeries were conducted over the course of this week. A 5- day event, and with 18-20 surgeries performed daily, it was a huge success.
When interviewed, Miss Edith says Ebonyians, of which she is one, can expect more of these interventions. She says Health and Wellness is a top priority of The Government and a repeat visit can be expected soon and all the other 12 Local Government Areas, will be reached too.
