PMB orders evacuation of Nigerian students as Hurricane Mariathat sends them packing.


Following the havoc wrecked by Hurricane Mariathat on Dominican island, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate evacuation of Nigerian students in the island.
Nigerian students who attend medical schools in Dominican Island were stranded after the hurricane hit the island.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commenced preparations following the president’s directive.  They disclosed that a senior official has been assigned to handle the travel process of the students.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu confirm the president’s order stating that the president was deeply touched by their loss. He revealed that the students will be moved to brazil for onward evacuation to Nigeria.

Hurricane Mariathat has been ranked a Category 4 storm and has sustained winds of up to 250km/hr making it the strongest storm to hit a US territory in 90 years.
