Fire razes building in Mgbabor Street (Presco) as Corp members solicit for support (Photos)

An unfortunate incident occurred yesterday when a house located at Mgbabor street, Abakaliki belonging to a certain Mr Nweze caught fire and was consequently burnt beyond rescue.

The fire outbreak started at around 10pm but was not discovered early by the occupants of the house until an empty room whose occupant was absent as at the time of the disaster had been burnt to ashes. A woman who is also an occupant of the house but would not mention her name to reporters due to duress, alerted every other occupants of the house who were all able to escape from the grasp of the outbreak.
However, The Ebonyi State Fire Service Department could not make it early enough to redeem the situation as majority of the properties belonging to the peasant occupants were completely burnt while a part of the building also collapsed due to the severity of the incidence. The fire combatants were only just able to stop the fire from spreading to the neighbouring houses. As at the time of this report, the source of the fire outbreak was yet to be discovered.

Speaking to Mr Samuel Ogunsola, a corp member who was present at the scene, he stated that the families affected by the fire outbreak were living in abject poverty before the incidence and stressed the unimaginable negative effect of the incidence. He went further to state that corp members living in the area are championing the course of soliciting for the support of well wishers and sympathizers who are able and willing to assist the affected families through the following details:
