Ebonyi State Government, Nkalagu communities and Ibeto Cement Sign NIGERCEM


The Ebonyi state government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ibeto cement industry for the re-vitalization of Nigerian Cement Company (Nigercem) Nkalagu.
Governor David Nweze Umahi within his first few weeks in office, constituted a 70 man committee to look into ways to revive the Nkalagu Cement Company (NIGERCEM).

The signing of the Memorandum Of Understanding took place on friday at the International Comference Centre (ICC) and was   witnessed by the state government, representatives from
the different host communities, and the core investor IBETO Cement Company Limited.
The agreement covers terms of settlement and community social responsibility by the investors to the four host communities which include Nkalagu, Umuhali, Ameze, Nkalahia.

The Governor further emphasied Ebonyi state government's ten percent stake in NIGERCEM was still intact and that the agreement will provide jobs for ebonyians when the company commences operations.
