Electricity
consumers in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state have carried out a peaceful protest to
register their dissatisfaction with the services provided by the Enugu Electricty
Distribution Company(EEDC) Abakaliki District
.
Over the
last few weeks, power supply in the state capital has deteriorated seriously. The
scarcity of petroleum products and even when found are sold at exorbitant rates
further worsened the situation as most residents couldn’t afford to buy them.
The
protesters demanded the transfer of District Manager of EEDC, Abakaliki
district, and asked the State government to enforce the “No prepaid metre, No Payment”
policy. Other Placards had signs like “No light No Payment’’, “Stop Load
Shedding”, “We want more Transformers” etc.
