The workers Verification exercise has commenced in all Government
offices in the state. Although earlier preparation had started last week, the
final stage of verification was slated for Monday.
Gov. Dave Umahi
directed that the verification exercise be carried out in other to determine
genuine workers, as well as harmonize the list of staff in all government
offices and LGAs in other to weed out ghost workers and block leakages of
governments fund which would in turn reduce the wage bill of the state as well
as that of LGAs. In an earlier post, we informed you that 662 ghost workers and 20 none existent schools were discovered in an earlier verification exercise
carried out in primary and secondary schools within the state.
The workers were
expected to present the following documents
- Letter of Appointment
- Letter of last promotion
- LGA letter of identification
The Verification Exercise for local government workers is
expected to hold on today at the various Local government area headquarters in
the state. Radio and television announcements have been made with the workers
including Teachers are expected to converge for the exercise.
The workers are expected to receive their salaries after the
exercise has been carried out.
In a related event, The Governor on Sunday promised to pay
the July salary (in addition to that of June for state workers and for LGA
workers it will be in addition to the two months owed) as they await the
recommendation of the committee setup by governor on the resolution of workers
salary lead by the Senator Sam Egwu.
