Senators donate over 1200 bags of Rice as Kogi receives N3.6b allocation for September


Some Nigerian Senators have donated about 1200 bags of rice to Civil Servants in Kogi State to the cushion their sufferings.

The Vanguard reports that the donation was made after a plea by the senatorrepresenting Kogi West in the National assembly Senator Dino Melaye. Senator Melaye made a plea to his colleagues to assist civil servants in Kogi State as some are yet to be paid salaries for over 22 months.

Melaye said it was necessary that he informed his colleagues about the hardships orchestrated by the present administration of governor Yahaya Bello; stressing that the spate of suicide witnessed in the state was a result of hardship experienced by the workers.
 A list made available by Senator Melaye shows a breakdown of the donations received.

Senator Melaye further disclosed that his colleagues would donate more materials within the week indicating that Senator Philip Aduda donated 10 bags of fertilizer which will be made available to farmers.
  He called on the leadership of Nigerian Labour Congress in Kogi state to coordinate the distribution of relief materials that would be arriving the state.


Meanwhile, Kogi State Government has confirmed the receipt of N3,621,816,304.48 billion as statutory allocation released to the state for the month of September 2017.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Idris Ashiru, said in a statement in Lokoja that the State’s net statutory allocation for the month of September is N2,414,041,323.57, as against N3,338,804,388.52 received for the month of August.
