Ebonyi State Justice Reforms team holds First formal meeting, to partner with UN, Australian Embassy

The administration of the justice reform law has been described as the best legislation any House of Assembly can give the people of the State.

Rev. Fr Ambrose U. Ekereoku, stated this at the first formal meeting of the Ebonyi State Reform team which held on thursday in Abakaliki. Fr. Ekerenoku
who is the executive Director CAPIO and member, Enugu State Justice Reform Team disclosed that plans are already underway to partner the Australian Embassy and other agencies to help facilitate the activities of the Ebonyi State Justice Reform team.

The Attorney General of the State and Chairman Justice reform team RT Hon. Augustine Nwankwagu commended the Ebonyi State Government for joining the list of states in the country  that have justice reform team. He expressed optimism the team will effect the needed reforms capable of enhancing the justice sector in the state and the well being of the people.

Barr. Ben Odoh Uruchi, PA (Technical) to the Deputy Governor and Secretary Ebonyi State Justice reform team informed the team of United Nations's readiness to partner the team to build Ebonyi Prison's Farm, which will not only help reform offenders but provide source of livelihood on completion of their jail term, The UN team will be in Abakaliki on 25th and 26th of September to train members of the justice reform team on ways to get it right.

Other members of the Justice reform team such as Hon. Chukwu Victor, Rev Adada, Alhaji Abbas Egwu, Justice Frank Edem, the Comptroller of Prisons - CP Emily Oputa amongst others hailed the progress made so far and promised to play their part.

The Ebonyi State Justice reforms team has representatives from NBA, FIDA, Media, Human Rights Group etc
