Ebonyi State Counsels call off week-long Strike

State Counsels in Ebonyi have finally called off a week-long strike following agitations over salary reduction, NBA seals and stamps and a host of other complaints counsels
to the State Government of Ebonyi State embarked on a strike.

 Ebonyigist gathered that aside from complaints about salary slashes, the State Counsels also complained that they were poorly funded. They stated that they were unable to fulfil requirements for court processes, due to lack of finances. Most state counsels claimed that they often had to draw from their personal funds to do their work. They also said that they lacked basic tools and gadgets to perform effectively.

Regarding the mandatory NBA seals and stamps, the agitating state counsels stated that they had made several appeals to the Nigerian Bar Association at its various conferences.

Although the strike did not bring judicial activity at the courts, to a complete stand still. It did however cause any case involving the State to suffer. All State cases were left without representation.

The strike was called off on Monday and as at the time of this report, work has comnenced in earnest.
