Another building collapsed yesterday in Ogbowankwo, Ajegunle
area of Lagos. The buiding which was still under construction was said to be a
two-storey.
A muslim who slept in the uncompleted building (as he had
just recently become homeless) said he woke up early to eat and continue
with his fast when he noticed a part of the building was collapsing, he quickly
alerted the workers who were also in the place at the time.
Report says that no one died but few sustained injuries and
the policemen who came to the rescue advised onlookers to leave the scene
before a worse incident happens.
The question that comes to mind is why uncompleted buildings keep collapsing, The contractors should endeavor to monitor the building process and ensure that every building material is used both at the right time and right quantity.
The government also, should not only approve a building to be constructed but ensure that it is built up-to standard to save lives and avoid 'collapse panic' every now and then.
