The Election petition tribunal sitting in Abakaliki has upheld the election of Dr Sam Egwu as senator representing Ebonyi North district and
Chief Obinna Ogba for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District.
The three man panel headed by Justice John Agha in a judgment on the petition filed by Chief Peter Oge-Alii of Labour Party challenging the election of Senator Sam Egwu of the PDP, ruled that the petition fell short of meeting the standards of proof of gross irregularities, falsification of election results and non complince to the electoral act as alleged by the petitioner.
He averred that the evidences by the prosecution witness alleging sundry electoral misconduct during the election of the 28 march 2015 were based on hear say as he failed to establish any evidence of the allegations.
The tribunal also dismissed the petitions brought before it by Prince Elechi Nnanna Elechi of the Labour Party and Mr Vincent Anyigor of the APC which sought the nullification of the election of Chief Obinna Ogba of the PDP and affirmed the return of Chief Obinna Ogba as senator representing Ebonyi Central.
The tribunal also upheld the election of Chief Linus Abba-Okorie of PDP representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal constituency in a petition filed by Chief James Aro Nweke of Labour Party challenging the election.
