Ebonyi Justice Reform Team get new exco's as it prepares to host UNODC rep, Australian Embassy, others


The Justice reform team once again continued its trailblazing programme as it held another meeting on the 1st of September 2017.

The team kicked off the day's activity by incorporating more members of the group as executives of the team in other to accomplish its people oriented goals.

The State chairman of the team stated that the team will focus on four key areas which include

1. Domestication of administration of Criminal Justice Act 2105
2. Construction of Ebonyi Prisons Farm
3. Establishment of Sexual Assault Referral Centre -SARC
4. Establishment of Ebonyi State Multidoor Courthouse

The Chairman disclosed that the agenda of the day was to prepare for the meeting with Dr Uju Agomoh, the Country Representative of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) stating that UNODC is willing to assist the team if they (the Justice Reform team) show signs of seriousness.


The secretary of the Justice Reform Team, Barr. Ben Odoh thanked the chairman for approving the Ebonyi state Citizen Mediation Centre and also for approving the establishment of the multi-door courthouse.

Barr Ben further disclosed that Dr. Uju Agomoh had agreed to assist the team in two of it four focal points which include Domestication of administration of Criminal Justice Act 2105 and Construction of Ebonyi Prisons Farm. and the UN team have moved up its visit to the state to 22nd September against the earlier scheduled 25th and 26th September.

The secretary informed the team that Rev. Fr Ambrose U. Ekereoku has already concluded talks with the Australian
Embassy who have agreed to partner with the team. He also stated that the team will train traditional rulers on Palace Mediation.

A committee headed by Mr Donatus Owo, who will be assisted by Eze Charles Mkpuma was constituted and tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the visit by the UN rep was a success.
