Five-year-old terminally ill Scottish girl gets her dream wedding

A terminally ill five-year-old girl fulfilled her dying wish of having a fairytale wedding when she 'married' her best friend in a touching ceremony.

Eileidh Paterson, from Forres, Moray, made a bucket list after she was diagnosed with terminal neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, and said the thing she most wanted to do was tie the knot with her best friend, six-year-old Harrison Grier.

Brave Eileidh's dreams came true yesterday when the pair exchanged necklaces and were declared 'best friends for ever' in a poignant ceremony attended by family, friends - and a cast of costumed princesses and superheroes.

Other dreams include a bedroom makeover, fly in a plane for a short holiday, ride the London Eye, see Blackpool Illuminations, be a zookeeper for a day, visit Disneyland and get a slide and swing for the garden.
Ms Grant, 32, who pulled together the whole 'wedding' event in just one month, said: 'It was amazing to see the community come together so quickly to donate their time and services to the event.

Photographs of the event, held in a meeting room at the AECC, in Aberdeen, show Eileidh beaming as she and Harrison walked hand-in-hand back down the aisle.
