As at this morning, Residents of Afikpo embarked on a massive protest
due to persistent power outage in the town and its environs.The protest which started from afikpo town continued to afikpo junction. The protesters blocked the road leading to Afikpo and Abakaliki stopping all movements in out of the area. Travelers were seen stranded as their drivers were forced to stop and wait out the protest.
The Residents of Afikpo North and South LGAs have been without Electric power for over three months with EEDC showing less than required commitment to remedy situation.
The protest has not lead to any destruction of property as at the moment, Although a motorcycle accident occurred along the amasiri afikpo road. No lives were lost but the occupants sustained injuries.
