Fire Guts Hostel Block in Isieke Campus area of Ebonyi State University
This morning at about 1 am, Residents of Royal Palace Hostel and its environs located in Isieke Campus of Ebonyi State University Abakaliki were awaken by cries for help. On arrival, It was discovered that one of the three blocks that make up the Royal Palace Hostel was on fire.
According to eyewitness report, Efforts made to contain the fire proved abortive. The fire service centre in abakaliki was called but their response was that they had a flat tyre hence won't be coming.
As
at when Ebonyigist arrived the scene, the fire had been put under
control as it didn't spread to other blocks. however all 15 rooms in the affected block was razed and property worth
millions of naira were lost.
Although the cause of the fire was yet to be determined, Ebonyigist noticed that most of the students were yet to return from their semester holidays.
