Ebonyi state Government to revive Nkalagu cement factory

In an attempt to revive the Nkalagu cement factory, The Ebonyi State Government has inaugurated a 75-man member committee on cement production in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr kelechi Igwe inaugurated the committee at the Akanu Ibiam International Conference centre, Abakaliki. The Committee which comprises of representatives from the thirteen local government areas of the state has the responsibility of brainstorming on ways to utilize the high deposit of limestone across the state for the benefit of ebonyians.
It is well known that the state is blessed with huge limestone deposit and have not been explored since the Nkalagu Cement factory stopped production due to mismanagement. Continuous Neglect from past Governments has lead to its deplorable state.  Although the past governments have tried to revive the Nkalagu Cement factory but no significant progress has been witnessed.
The Nkalagu Cement factory if revived will provide numerous job opportunities as well as tremendously improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state especially with the hopeless state of the oil market.
The committee has two weeks to submit their interim report to the state government for appropriate actions.
